5 Techniques To Attract More Subscribers To Your Legal Blog

Lawyers regularly explain to me that even though they put forth the work to compose and maintain a blawg, they have difficutly finding ways to get additional subscribers. I have crafted a checklist of a few hints that with minimal effort, will help give extra exposure to your firm’s blog.

1. Post the blog to appropriate directories. Although this should appear to be obvious, I am amazed at how many lawyers neglect to actually do this. Submitting your firm’s blog to directories will help to provide people looking for your blog content the ability to find it. Simply conduct a search for “Legal Blog Directories” and start submitting.

2. Make use of Twitter to publicize your blawg posts. The nice thing about Twitter is that like-minded people can locate one another and discuss ideas and articles around the web. You can easily implement a service, like twitterfeed, to automatically tweet your articles as you publish them to your site.

3. LinkedIn Groups and Facebook. Sharing your posts and ideas with fellow lawyers and group members via LinkedIn and Facebook is a very good way to gain additional exposure. Get started by becoming a member of relevant LinkedIn groups. Share your posts with the groups. If you generate useful content, individuals will come to read and subscribe.

4. Comment on other Lawyer’s Blogs. The very dynamic of blogging lends itself to interacting and conversation. Carve out some time to go through other interesting blog posts and comment, discussing your thoughts. DO NOT SPAM. The idea behind this exercise is to include yourself in the blawg community and participate in the dialogue, not spam others.

5. Work with social bookmark sites to submit your most effective blog posts. Posting a good post to websites like Digg, Stumbleupon, Reddit, and Delicious will drive readers to your blog. If individuals like the articles you wrote, they will “vote” for it. This can bring new visitors to your blawg.

How To Craft Content For Your Attorney Website Or Blog

Law firm online marketing starts with an inherent disadvantage with regards to the content you write for your website. This is because the subject material is sophisticated, detailed, and necessitates an advanced degree to understand completely. The copy on your site is confronted with the unenviable challenge of outlining, in layman’s terms, fairly complicated subjects while at the same time confronting the fleeting focus of internet users.

It is important to understand that creating content for your website is unique and must be approached differently than other kinds of traditional writing.

Effective attorney internet advertising necessitates recognizing how to craft web copy

I am going to address writing website content from the perspective of user friendliness and engaging your readers. Even though it is also important to understand how to craft website copy for search engine optimization,I am going to reserve that subject for a different blog post.

Here are a few ideas to keep in mind when writing content for your firm’s website:

Consumers on your website scan the web pagesthey don’t read them – Keep your paragraphs and sentences concise. Use headlines and bolding that highlight your important messages.

Utilize bullet points – Individuals really like lists online. When lists and bullets are utilized appropriately, a customer can more quickly look at and digest the points you address.

Start a conversation, less “marketing speak” – I always point out that people want to buy from other people, not faceless law firms. This is especially legitimate when selling professional products and services. Make sure you compose with your style, while maintaining a professional tone.

Stay away from legalese – Not only doesn’t the average joe comprehend it, but they will quickly dismiss your material and proceed to another firm’s site. Focus is fleeting online, if a prospective customer does not comprehend what you are saying, they will immediately go someplace else.

Utilize photographs, video clips, and illustrations in your posts (where appropriate) – This tends to make your content more visually appealing and pulls the readers in.

A good book to check out on the subject is Net Copy by Nick Usborne. It is a fast read that discusses how to approach writing for the web.

Taking a deeper look at the copy on your website will increase the effectiveness of your lawyer internet marketing.

Understanding how to create engaging website copy is important for your law firm internet marketing. Writing copy that appeals to a user increases engagement and can be a nice compliment to your law firm seo.

Burnout in Home Schooling

It doesn’t matter whether you are teaching in a traditional school or in a home schooling environment, there will be a time when you will experience burnout. This is something that you must avoid so that your learning progress is not affected.

Here are a couple of useful tips that you can use to prevent possible home schooling burnout:

Understand your abilities. From the very start, you should already know your limitations and those of your child. You must be capable of taking things slowly sometimes, especially if your child is still very young since you have to bear in mind your child’s capacity to learn. Most students are average learners (obviously), so you will have to take the lessons according to your child’s learning pace. Never expect your small child to read complicated selections nor your teenager to get top marks in SAT exams.

Try not to follow rigid schedules, as this could put undue pressure on your child. You should simply set an interesting routine for your child to follow. Children spend most of their time doing routine activities like getting up, eating hearty breakfasts, reading books, practising writing, doing light chores, etc. You must insist that they finish their routine activities before they can go outside or play with the computer. Even these routine activities change from day to day, but you have to ensure that your child completes these routine activities. You can add in occasional incentives or fun activities if they finish their routine tasks earlier.

You should enjoy home schooling with your child. This is one way you can develop a good relationship with your child and if you and your child can relate to each other, you will find it very easy to handle curriculum struggles and motivation problems later. Aside from motivating and guiding your child, you can also pursue some of your own interests like gardening and cooking. If your child sees you enjoying your own interests, then he or she will also be motivated to do the same.

As your child is in a home schooling program, you should not try to copy a traditional schools environment. Try to use unusual ways when teaching your child. Home schooling is also about flexibility and creativity, and if you can achieve a light-hearted but firm atmosphere, you can probably prevent burnout.

Always try to remember that with home schooling, you don’t have to structure your teaching methods in the traditional way. You can just do things in a fun way especially with very young children so that they learn naturally. Just ensure you keep the day in the right perspective to avoid burnout. Although your children might forget some of the day’s lessons, that’s all right too because somehow they grow in intelligence as well as in physique.

For sure, your children will always look back on your moments together and remember fondly how well you treated them. The old song goes: “… there’s no place like home” and for little pupils, home is the best place to learn the first lessons of life. If your teenagers are already in high school or in college, they can still pursue home schooling if they want to. That would also a good decision because you’d get to keep an eye on your children’s performance.

Parents always try to look after their children’s best interests, so, if after careful thought, you still think that home schooling is the best option for your family, then run with it. Just follow the tips mentioned above to avoid burnout. Make time for enjoyable activities from time to time in order to prevent monotony.

Barry, South Wales: Ancient History: Part 3

Barry Castle was owned by William de Barri in the twelfth century, but it was raized to the ground by Llewellyn Bren in-16. Many believe that the Cavaliers rebuilt and that the Roundheads destroyed it again. Whatever is true, it was never rebuilt again after that.

The Normans were hated by the locals and they had to build large mansions to protect themselves from the frequent attacks carried out on them from the people of the valleys and mountains. During the time of Henry III, there were 12 castles within six miles of Barry. In Glamorgan, there were 30 castles and in south Wales as a whole, 150.

Porthkerry and its church which lies on the wooded hill to the west of it are said to have taken their name from Ceri, who, in turn, is said to have founded a port there, ie ‘Port Ceri’. People say that Ceri ap Caid, the King of Essyllwg, lived in Porthkerry before the Christian era and that his bard, Corvinor, was the first to build a ship with sails and a rudder for the ‘race of Cymru’. Some believe that Ceri was a nephew or grandson of Caractacus (Caradog) and that he took over the leadership of the government in South Wales when Caractacus had to journey to Rome.

John Wesley preached in the Porthkerry Church and sometimes outside in the churchyard too between 1741 and 1743. Today, there are two very old churches still in use in Barry: St. Cadocs Church in Cadoxton and Merthyr Dyfan Church in Merthyr Dyfan. One-hundred-and-fifty years ago, Cadoxton was the largest village in the Barry area: thus, in’44 the Parliamentary register contained 25 names: 20 from Cadoxton and five from Barry. The one church was dedicated to St. Cadoc, who had been accustomed to spend Lent on Flat Holm and Barry Island. The village (Cadoc’s Town)took its name from the church, which was founded in 800 AD.

Merthyr Dyfan Church, which is situated in the north of Barry, was founded in 600 AD and the name means Dyfan The Martyr. There were two saints of this name. The one travelled to Barry to convert the local people to Christianity and the other lived in the sixth century. He was the son of a Welsh chieftain. His sister was also martyred and the town of Merthyr Tydfil is named in her memory.

The Christian faith flourished in the Vale of Glamorgan and in the middle of the Second Century, Llewrwg, Prince of Siluria, became the first king of all time to be baptized into the Christian faith anywhere in the world. He sent to Rome for more preachers and was sent Dyfan and Fagan. The former was martyred near the site of the church and the latter was canonized.

Homeschooling and the Family

According to the National Center For Education Statistics, roughly 1.1 million children underwent home schooling in 2005 alone. That’s a lot of children. Once upon a time, homeschooling used to be a radical statement – something like a declaration of independence.

It was the right-wing Christians who advocated homeschooling in the 1980’s and legalized it in every State. But these day, average homeschooling student is not religiously motivated.

Later surveys show that parents are quite fed up with the public school system where a lot of the learning is superficial and compulsory. They are also concerned about the negative environment in school, ranging from drugs and abuse to negative peer pressure.

Because of this, we have a surprising mixture of people who make up the homeschooling world of today. They cut across all religious creeds and all regional borders. Their main aim is providing meaningful and productive learning through a method that strengthens the bond between the various members of the family.

These families all have one main thing in common – a long enduring commitment to the sanctity of childhood. The children of these families are given a primary position. Many believe, and, I think, rightly so, that home schooling allows parents to bring up their kids in a more natural and caring environment.

Public schools can make a child nervous, diffident and downright mean. Children who get their education at home are protected from these damaging, negative influences until they reach an age where they can deal with them.

Home-schooling draws the whole family into the almost religious task of teaching. Everyone is put to work. The parents together form a bond with the children. Any experience can be turned into an learning experience. Both the parents are aware of exactly what is going into their child’s education.

Parents also have a greater control over the kind of religious and moral values that the child is taught. Even watching a movie together can become a learning experience. Visits to the libraries, zoos, museums and other places become educational as well as recreational.

A home-schooling family is usually dependent on the income of one earning member. That means that often outgoings have to be curtailed and proper planning of expenditure is necessary. This helps to bring the family members together and everybody gets involved in the process of not spending money.

Just having a parent at home to look after, to nurture and to care for the children brings with it a lot of love and caring. Even the husband chips in and there is just no room for complacency.

All right, problems do occur, and there will be many misgivings in your mind, but when you know that your kids can always count on you, and your kids know it too, then homeschooling becomes a richly rewarding experience.

Learning History at Home Schooling

Do you consider that passing time in traditional classrooms is a waste? For many people, that is true. For instance, a test is due and the pupils are asked to memorize a list of dates and names. However, after sitting the test, they will surely forget 75% of those dates and names. That’s what the majority of students do when they have tests. If you are one of these people, you will find traditional history lessons boring, so home schooling, which focuses more on the history of the world, will probably be of more interest to you.

Simple memorization is not enough to know the importance of famous people and important events. Through home schooling in history, you can learn about the different cultures of the past in a unique, but interesting way – your own way! Through the study of history, you will also understand what is happening in the world today.

If you think that home schooling is the most effective option for your child’s education, you should also be prepared to take on some responsibilities. Since there will be no teacher physically present, you will have to oversee your child’s educational progress yourself.

Let’s say that your kid is interested in sports. Through history and home schooling, you could start by just putting a map on the wall of your child’s room. Mark the location of his favorite sports team and make sure that you track all the team’s activities and schedules. Then, you could go back to history by reading biographies of the various athletes, who had been popular in the particular sport that your child likes. Aside from that, you can also look into the history of that specific sport and discover where it originated, its inventor, and the other things happening in that particular time.

For instance, if your child follows baseball, you can teach your child about the history of Negro Leagues, government hearings on the use of steroids, and other favourite hobbies at that time. Just remember that you can apply this concept to any interest like dances and inventions. You can also have conversations with your child concerning current events or read interesting historical works and other books. Apart from that, you can also watch documentaries together with the rest of the family. There are various resources that your child can use while home schooling, like TV, maps, books, a globe, an atlas, and encyclopedias. Due of the exciting adventures that you and your child will read about and see on film, he/she will find it easier to remember the names and dates of the history lessons. After all, learning is better when it is done in a fun way.

These methods are advisable if your child is still young, but once your child gets older, you should select a home schooling program that is suited for his/her age group. The programs are available at the elementary, high school, and even college levels. You just have to search online for these different programs. One advantage of these programs is that you can adapt them to suit the interests of your child. However, you have to ensure that all the lessons are studied by your child.

After you and your child have decided to try home schooling, you must be prepared to make some changes in your life. The learning environment will now be in your home not at a school and through the various resources that you think best, such as a computer and the Internet.
